Revealing Our Office and Guest Room Makeover.

I am excited to share a long-term basement project I have worked on since 2021. It’s been a long journey, and I cannot wait to first share it with you. The space in question is a guest bedroom turned storage room in our basement. The room was cluttered with various items, and the walls were honey oak colored with high gloss lacquer that made the room feel cramped and uninviting. We knew we had to do something about it to make the room more functional and inviting.

Our goal was to transform the storage room into a cozy and spacious guest bedroom that would also serve as an office. We decided to paint the walls and ceiling Sherwin Williams Cheviot in a satin finish to brighten the space. Painting the ceiling the same color as the walls added depth and continuity to the room.

For the furniture, we chose a comfortable and stylish Ikea FÄRLÖV sleeper sofa in gray, which was perfect for snuggling with the kiddos or guests as it could turn into a bed for two. Unfortunately, the FÄRLÖV sofa is now discontinued, but it remains a beloved piece in our guest room/office. We added multiple lighting sources, including this two light modern scones, a pendant, and floor lamps to create a warm and cozy ambiance in the room.

The coolest part of this project is the DIY closet turned office corner. I transformed the closet into an office by removing the bi-fold doors and wood shelf.
